Maria Mavropoulou is an Athens-based editorial and documentary photographer with a background in fine arts. Since 2019, she has worked as a contributing photographer for The New York Times, covering stories across Greece, with particular focus on technology, culture and travel in the wider Mediterranean region.
Her photography combines photojournalistic clarity with a research-driven approach and a distinctive contemporary perspective. She is available for editorial commissions and travel assignments throughout Greece, the Balkans, Turkey, Egypt and the wider Eastern Mediterranean, and is available to travel internationally.
Maria speaks Greek, English, Russian and French. Selected photographs and extended archives are available for editorial and commercial licensing.
